ZNet is our wireless sensor network platform designed for long life battery operation. 

Wireless connectivity

The ZNet platform combines a Telegesis IEEE 802.15.4/Zigbee modem with a nano power microcontroller.

Integrated sensors

Temperature, humidity and light sensors are onboard. Additional sensors may be connected via 2 analog inputs, I2C, SPI or RS 232.

Data Logging

The ZNet module also includes a real time clock and 128 kB of flash memory for non volatile data storage. This allows to operate the module as data logger independently of network connectivity.

Long Battery Life

Battery lifetime depends on data acquisition and transmission rates. Typical battery lifetimes are between several months to 2 years with 3 AAA batteries.

Fully reconfigurable

The ZNet firmware and the modem firmware may be updated securely over the air.

ZNet Telnet Server

A network of ZNet nodes is controlled via the ZNet Telnet Server program running on a Windows PC. This program allows to set-up the network, starts and stops the acquisition of data and provides for data storage into log files. Measurement data is directly shown in separate graphs. Additionally the data from all connected nodes is available through a Telnet port, which allows to use Labview, Matlab and other software online for data analysis.
